Washing shearling lined coat...

As some of you may know, I've a Pike Bros B-10 that I recently purchased. I love the jacket. It fits well, sleeves a tad longish but no biggie dad. My only problem with it is the overly thick shearling lining in the arms and body. Thank goodness they gusseted the arms or I'd never be able to lower em. Bottom line is I was wondering if I washed the jacket in cold water (or warm... don't have to worry bout leather shrinkage you know) would it thin out the pile any... Suggestions and opinions welcomed.

If I recall, Soren dipped his old model Aero Irvin in a cold bath to try to kink-up and flatted the ironed teddy bear fleece that it had, and that seemed to do the trick.

I might be wrong but I think Worf's Irvin is Søren's "washed" Aero ;)

Yo Worf turn it inside out, pull out some Whal clippers and give it a hair cut where needed.

Worf, this advice is the business. Do it.

I have three or four sheep (and horse) shearing clippers I can bring up there and do the job for you. It just takes a steady hand. Will make the shearling a little shorter, won't do any damage at all. P.C.

Further to my suggestion for clippers Worf, you may have a pair with guards to help. I have found this very useful to trim around arm pits jacket not mine. Why o why don't those lining jackets leave two inches bare in the pits?
