There is something to be said for this approach. It is possible to care too much.

When it comes to etiquette, we should be mindful of the intent. Don't do things simply because someone told you it should be so. With hats, the main consideration is the comfort of others. Will my hat cram space? Will my hat impede someone's vision? Basic considerateness should be the goal in hat etiquette.

Oh right, for the new member above: Welcome, welcome! Interesting, but I think it would be an incredible stretch to use "fray" in close approximation with the Fedora Lounge.

Basic answer: have fun enjoy your hat and be polite and if you feel like your getting into a grey area do what feels right..
