It's a long shot but I know there's some music people on here. Looking to buy a 1930's-1940's Gibson L-00 or L-0 guitar in good or project condition. Let me know if you have one for sale or a lead on one! Thanks!

Well I would never part with my '33 with an elevated board--they have something special going on IMO--like the one that TMitchell59 posted up! Good luck in your search, they're out there!

I agree the Elevated boards are the best. I have 3 L1s with el board. Aren't you the case master?

What is the finish on you el? My L1s are spruce top sunburst, the twin guard black is a spruce top. The other variant is the natural mahogany top. There are black and sunburst with mahogany tops also.

The first 14 fret flat top guitars had elevated boards. This set up shows up on the Nick Lucas and LC. It only lasted a short time, 1932, 1933.

My L00 has the small sunburst spruce top,and a rare maple body. I’ve only ever heard of one other like mine.

Does it have solid lining instead of the kerfing? I recall a friend in Ireland had such a guitar. It had the sold liningl, with a maple body, elevated neck. I probably have pics of his guitar. Gibson did what they had to with materials. It may be they were being innovative and trying different ideas out. They made a 13 fret guitar in black and white with a flat fingerboard. All those I have seen were from the same batch, I believe 269.

It has kerfing. The back/sides/neck are maple. The neck is a fairly pronounced V shape. It's seen some serious use, but plays like a new guitar with no structural issues (I've had a little work done to it prior). It's got a surprisingly warm sound for a maple guitar and it's pretty much a "do anything" guitar. Light fingerpicking to slamming out swing chords.

Nice guitars, L-00’s rule and they are still relatively plentiful and reasonably priced. Interesting twin guard!

To the OP, there seems to be quite a few on Reverb right now and pricing seems to have backed off from the craziness of a few years ago. Here's my 1935 "desert island" guitar, no maple or twin pickguards, but a good one!
