Is there anywhere other than eBay to find them? And do they necessarily have to match the shirt studs and cufflinks?I'm sorry for so many formalwear questions, but I'm slowly piecing together a black tie ensemble. So far I only have the cufflinks and shirt studs.

Under accessories they have waistcoat studs.

I bought a marcella waistcoat for white tie from them and the studs look like mother of pearl (I doubt that they actually are, though).

I actually know about them (and Clermont Direct),but they only have pearl, and I was hoping for a little more variety.I saw a post on another site where someone had black onyx waistcoat studs and wore them with his white waistcoat,a look I very much like.

No, they needn't match. But they should at least look good together. I'd put more effort into making them harmonize (or even match--I'd love to get a genuine set) with your shirt studs than cufflinks, howeve: seems like most people are more likely to compare shirt and waistcoast studs to each other than either to your cufflinks.

My mistake, did not read that you were looking for black tie.

I've found a set of three shank back buttons that are black and gold (same as my shirt studs/cufflinks),that are about the right size for waistcoat studs. The only real difference is that the buttons have a diamond cut stone and my shirt studs are smooth onyx.I think these should work well!

Just curious but why no eBay?

Oh,it's not that I wouldn't buy them from eBay,but I have a devil of a time finding them.I've tried vest studs, waistcoat studs, vest buttons, waistcoat buttons, and still no luck.I do occasionally see them in a lot,but there are usually only one or two and are in awful shape.

If they look anything at all like I'm envisioning... I think they're as close to perfect as you can get without actually being perfect!

I've got a problem.I don't think the size is right. They're a little smaller than my cufflinks, and from what I've seen waistcoat studs and cufflinks are about the same size.I'm hoping that they'll still work though.

I don't think a little smaller would matter.
