waistcoat buttons

I have a white dinner waistcoat, it has button sized holes in the front and very small holes in the back, what do I buy to do this up?

To add to Josephine's reply, UK versions often look like this:

They occasionally turn up on eBay, and can be bought from Clermont direct, thus:

In extremis, sewn-on buttons can be substituted, but the effect is not quite the same, in my opinion.

I've got a (if I recall correctly) Marshal Fields & Company dinner suit waist-coat from the teens that takes vest studs. I'll put up a picture soon!
