Best I can tell this is an early 1980s C2. It was after they switched from the original white label, but before they started adding ID numbers.

Previous owner removed epaulettes. I thought about sending to Dena to have her put some back in, but I kind of liked the look without since I also have a Schott 118.

I did a male side zipper replacement with Cal Leathers so the original talon head is preserved. It'll take some time for the teeth color to match and get that patina, but it's pretty close now.

Measurement wise it's my smallest jacket, but somehow fits really well. I think that's kudos to Vanson design. Gussets and under arm footballs make this super comfy. It's like being perma hugged in a good way. Leather is gorgeous, broken in, pliable, nice grain, but thick. Liner is in great shape, few loose threads but hardly a scratch. Belt was not included when I bought it, so no belt either.

Great jacket but I'm really redundant in the cross zip style. Something has got to go.

$325 PPFF Conus shipping included

PTP: 22
Shoulder: 18
Sleeves: 25.5ish around the bend
Back: 22 with 2 inch front drop to 24 front

weekend bump. Price cut to $300 PPFF Conus shipping included. Think this is the last jacket I'm selling and just going to enjoy what I got now :D Fantastic cross zip, much more fitted than the usual Schott Perfecto, but super comfortable. Vanson got the patterns really figured out. It feels like I'm being swaddled (in a good way LOL) when I wear this. Like a perma hug. This is almost half off new price and the leather is really nice with the older comp weight formula which has been broken in nicely--pliable, grainy, etc. And has the older Talon zips.

This looks custom made for you. Just curious, how warm is that lining?

It annoys me that people would cut off the epaulettes like that. This would have been a perfect jacket.

Yeah, it's a really nice fit. It feels like it wraps around you. It's definitely snug for me, T-shirt only kind of thing. And if the leather wasn't so broken in, or if this was CXL, I don't think I could wear at all LOL. So someone 10-15 lbs less would be more an "appropriate" fit I think. It's tagged 42, but vintage 42, so more like a true 40.

You know, I've got a few jackets with quilted liners. I don't feel like any of them offer extra warmth. I mean sure, a little bit more over a standard satin or rayon or something like that. But it's not like gortex.

Fantastic jacket. And if no takers at this price or a few bucks less, I've got no problems hanging on to it. It's just that I got 3 go to cross zips now and a Lewis Leather Lightning in the mail soon and a FL project for next year. So just trying to be realistic here.

I don’t get how these old Vanson don’t sell quick, fast and in a hurry. The leather is out of this world. Nothing better. Few as good. Be happy if you hold on to it. I’ve sold some and always regret it. My current E ain’t going anywhere. No matter the closet situation.

Yeah, it took me a while to be a Vanson believer. Their website doesn't do them any favors. But after seeing some pics posted here on the what are you wearing thread, it was no brainer. Besides the older leather, the cut is like no other. They simply know how to make a jacket. It just fits with ease and you can really push the measurements to get a tight fitting yet comfortable jacket. Plus those wrist zips. Freaking air tight like nothing I've ever seen before. If they used "fancier" brand name leather, they could easily double their prices.

Granted, it's a shorter styled jacket and there's a lot of brassy flashy bling. So not for everyone. But I'm just being realistic. I got my jacket rotation down to 12 finally. So something like this is going to get a couple wears a year when I'm feeling fun. And that's fine too. More about seeing if someone out there really wants one of these. Jeez, worst case, I'll just farm all the Talon brass hardware LOL. Anyway, my FL cross zip still probably got a year on the wait list, so I guess I got room for this one for a while. Definitely ain't going to give it away.

My god what a jacket at what a price. I'm settled on black heavy duty crosszips unless the Bates escapes me for some reason...how hasn't this found a new home? Are the epaulettes really that big a deal?

thanks! I think, but I dont know, maybe the back length? It's a weird one. I'm 6'0 and no doubt the jacket is a shorter style. Even on the Vanson website they say so. But it doesn't fit as short as the measurements say. One of my other Cals was 24 and it fit the same. So don't know what kind of hocus pocus is going on in that pattern, but it hits me just at the top of the belt line with low/mid rise jeans.

I think Dena could redo those epaulettes if someone really wanted them back. Not a big job.

Anyway, any cheaper than this and I'm going to keep for the talon zips. There's like 5 glorious ones LOL.
