Vintage Vacation Wear

Alright ladies I need some input!

I am going on vacation in June. There will be a lot of walking and it will be summer time. With that in mind I would like some tips.

I think it would be fabulous to have my picture taken in front of awesome landmarks and pieces of ancient history in vintage wear.

I thought a couple day dresses might be appropriate. I have a couple pairs of capris (but they're jean). Did they wear gauchos in the 40s & 50s?

I guess my main concern (aside from clothing) is shoes. Heels are out. Wedges are out. I have flats but they are not comfortable. I was thinking maybe granny shoes. What's your advice for comfortable walking shoes with a vintage look to them?

Also, Lolita the saddle shoes you wore on your vacation are they comfortable?

HELP!

So that's a yes to the gauchos, right? That would fall under the "pirate pants" category?

Thanks Kim.

But what about comfortable vintage style walking shoes?

I'd go with Saddle shoes, or some cute ballet flats or some plain white Keds...those are always cute with pedal pushers!

PD... Where are you going? I ask because I wore my saddle shoes for only one day. I wore my heels and wedges (one day) the rest of the time and we did a lot of walking and minimal hiking (Grand Canyon and Two Guns). Of course I took off my wedge sandals when I was climbing up the side of a building and down into a cavern, but... lol The saddle shoes are very comfortable, but I was much happier in my heels When I had a bandaid to cover the blister on my heel.

The only way you could make me jealous is if you say Greece. Other than that... not too worried about what you throw my way. :) Hehehehe

Hi, I had the shoe problem last fall on a tour of Italy, Greece, and Turkey. Everyone who heard about the upcoming trip kept saying, "you are going to wear practical shoes, aren't you?" Well, I ranted, women have been going to these places for thousands of years, did any of THEM wear "practical shoes?" (my boss said, "but didn't they die at age 35?"). I did end up getting these in black (I think they also come in red) made by Clarks that I thought were passably vintage-y, and actually very comfy even after miles of walking (I didn't even really break them in) and stable for climbing around on uneven surfaces:

Those are cute! $83.95 on Zappos! Yikes! Daisy, find them cheaper! You're so good at that.

Got 'em down to $69.90 on amazon.com but that's still high for me.

I bet she can and they are probably out there! I always end up paying through the nose because I wait until the last minute and am desperate!
