Vintage Suit Cache

At a local vintage shop, I found a very nice cache of vintage suits, probably a half dozen or so. Three or four from the 40s, and about as many from the 1950s. Among them, a very rare 1940s grey plaid in 46L, with size 44 waist trousers. Also, a truly incredible Hickey Freeman from the 1940s in a burgundy tweed that is so heavy it must weigh 15 pounds. Also a 1940s pale blue flannel with some moth damage. The prices were all in the $50 to $65.00 range. Any interest here? If so, send sizes. Not a sale for profit post.

Also, found a box of dead stock/new old stock handkerchiefs, still in their box. They appear to be cotton. Some have minor lettering, but are original folded and tied with satin ribbons. If anyone has interest I can pick them up. They were 15 bucks for 10 hankies

If that H Freeman is a small one, i'd be interested. Burgundy is distinctly missing from my wardrobe. Size 36 and smaller is best for me.

If these suits are really of the era you suggest, you shouldn't have trouble selling them on. Might make sense just to pick them all up then try to sell them here. If not, eBay.

Up to measured 40" chest (anything from measured 37" to 40" will work for me). No longer than 30" from base of collar to hem in back.

Measured 28-33 waist will work.


They must be exceptional for me to want them: i.e. the burgundy. I have my fingers crossed that it's a small 'un.

It must be absolutely certainly, no doubts, from the 30s to early 50s. And only in good condition. I can deal with small moth holes, but if there are more than about 6 or 7 in visible places, that's no good.

If you know your stuff well enough, and can afford it, I suggest you snap them up. Just make sure they are truly vintage and not too damaged unless really cheap.

Then sell, making enough profit to make it worth your risk and effort. If you think you do not need any profit for that, great. But if they are what you say, better snap them up.
