Hi. I just received this Sears leather jacket. It is in a light tan color. I would like to do a light conditioning and cleaning any recommendations on what product to use that won’t make the leather blotchy or turn it dark?

Hi! That Sears leather jacket sounds like a great piece, and maintaining its light tan color while conditioning is key. At Pious Leather, we work with a variety of premium leather goods, and when it comes to cleaning and conditioning light-colored leather, we always recommend using pH-balanced, non-darkening leather care products.

For a gentle clean, try a leather cleaner like Lexol or Bick 1, applied with a soft microfiber cloth. Avoid excessive moisture, as it can lead to blotching.

For conditioning, go with Bick 4 or Cadillac Leather Conditioner—both are known for not darkening leather while keeping it supple. Apply a small amount on a hidden area first to ensure the finish remains even.

Avoid mink oil or heavy wax-based products, as they tend to darken lighter leather.
