Hmmm...now where have I seen this before?
I do love Motel Signs here.

Apologies for the poor quality of the zoomed in photo.
It's been a loooooong time since I've seen one of these See Rock City barns in the wild. This one was on AL hwy 75 close to the GA state line.
That's a real shame. I highly recommend it if you ever get the chance. It's pretty much the same now as it would have been back then. All those trips in the 60s in the Impalas, and we never went to Rock City.

Lew Archer.Maybe it's just me, but I saw this and instantly thought where is Philip Marlowe.
Bob, there's also one close to the end of rt. 66 in California, and one a little closer to home for you and me. The Wigwam village #2 is still in operation on hwy 31 in Cave City, Kentucky. Definately the place to stay when you visit Mammoth Cave. I posted some pics of it at the beginning of this thread.
From the 1960s until I don't know exactly when, one of the businesses in a neighboring city had a sign in the front of their parking lot that was a full-size 3D representation of the conical "Command Module" from one of the Apollo missions on a stylized column-type cement support that was 20-30 feet tall. It was a rather simple affair with the details painted on, but as a kid who was extremely interested in the space program I thought it was "cool"....This wasn't vintage neon nor a ghost sign so I thought I'd drop it here. Not sure the connection between the Apollo moon lander and used tires, but you can bet if I had been in the market for some, this is where I'd be have gotten them.

Yes, spot on. For about ten years in there, anything space flight/moon/astronaut-y was cool, which is why all this stuff popped up.
