The neck style also makes the polo very comfortable. No messy buttons. The V is also cut high enough for a gentleman to wear. And the collar to add to its versatility.

Thanks for the pictures and the story behind them, TT. Really cool to read how he kept them for so long. The disposable society doesn't value their clothes enough. They are designed to be replaced often and early.

On buying new polos: Just got a jersey "Levis one pocket polo" on a sale for 20 euros. It's grey with a green touch (I think...didn't wear it out in the sun yet). I like that the collar is from the same fabric. The fabric is not too thick though and I doubt I will wear them for 50 years. I still like it better than the average polo.

In the same vain I saw some Schot NYC jersey polos in a store window but the store was closed. So I could have a closer look at them. Can't find them on their page either. Looked nice.

Being new, do not want to be seen advertising anyone, will thus not name the vendor. But the image below has a few things in common with the shirts in the images.

*Signature V collar
*Collar made of body fabric
*Fabric also seems thicker than average given how little skin is visible beneath the white shirt.

Yes, please post the maker. The FL is open to recommendations and even has a "finds and deals" sub forum. Only vendors who want to advertise their own stuff should contact the bartenders for the sponsor programme.

The shirt looks rather cool. Is it advertised as a repro or just a coincidence that it matches some criteria?

The Old Town one is very nice. Marks & Spencer did a very similar shirt a few years ago (available in either linen or cellular cotton). I did have a few, but can't seem to find them now.

Not bad! Thanks - there is no problem naming the vendor.

Relating to just some bad experiences in the past

It is probably custom made as the vendor makes custom clothes. Going by my limited experience, any style can be reproduced as long as we compromise on the limited availability of knitted fabrics. The name of the vendor is Luxire. I see that one of their threads was deleted so am assuming some loss of love between the bartenders and the company. Hence greater reluctance.

Spearpoint - as far as i know the Luxire thread was closed because it is being moved to the vendors area. It least that was the case last time I heard. Maybe the moderators can let us know if anything has changed?

I would certainly trust Luzire to be able to create a very nice vintage styled polo shirt.

I would be surprised if that would happen. The spear point collar shirt thread has been tampered with to a point that Luxire get a very bad reputation from it. I don't get the impression that the moderators in these parts are particularly fond of Luxire.

That's interesting: I didn't realise that the spearpoint thread had been edited.

I just wish someone would let us know what is going on.

About 12 pages have been deleted. The whole discussion about Luxire allegedly stealing intellectual property and Arnaud from Luxire satisfactorily explaining that this was not the case are gone. The accusations are still there.

Wow! Just saw that. Used to be a lurker back then. That is not good. It really raises questions about the authenticity of the content on this forum. The members who contribute to its existence are being taken for a ride. It is also bad for the vintage clothing community as this forum is highly regarded.

If that is the case, would not be surprised to find parts of this thread deleted by the end of the day.

I said I do not want to name the vendor.

Can not anything be done? May be we should write to Nathan Flowers. He was the one who had approved my account.

I sent a PM to Nathan Flowers since I wanted to know what the Luxire situation is and whether the old Luxire shirts thread is going to reappear.

A few things to clear up-- I didn't know the Spear Point thread was edited. It's now back the way it was. As for the Luxire thread, the whole thread is essentially an unpaid Affiliate Thread. Affiliate threads cost $375/month, which we (and our existing Sponsoring Affiliates) feel is an extremely reasonable price for such exposure. We're using the funds from our Affiliates to pay our server bills, which can be quite high, as the Lounge often provides in excess of 2 million pageviews a month. When you consider the cost of advertising elsewhere, be it on the web, or in print, it's an absolute bargain. Personally, I have absolutely no beef with Luxire or Ashish. I really want to do business with him, but we can't give him something for nothing.
