I don't know the maker, don't recognize the label. Most leather labels have the saw tooth sides. The lining color is unusual and I really like it! I don't think I would forget it.

Let's add some non-American vintage to this thread.

Late 70s Lewis Leathers Racing Jacket 442 with custom back design.

This is the first 442 I've seen with this particular back design, with the side panels and v shaped back panel. It usually comes with a shoulder yoke and a split back panel. The leather is different from other LL jackets from the era. The ones I've handled were dyed black all the way through and were fairly thin. This one's leather has a brown core and feels very dense and stiff.

I sent some pics to Rip, which in turn forwarded them to Derek Harris (Current owner of Lewis Leathers). He gave the following info on the jacket:

"This is a very late 70's 442, as you surmised. It isn't technically teacore, T/C this refers to veg tanned leather which has a top finish. The leather in this jacket would have been chrome tanned without pigment and then surface dyed (spray dyed), it looks similar but isn't really the really T/C. Our coloured leathers were almost always surface sprayed in the 70's, along with some of the black finished leathers."

Sort of an unplanned Tea Core?

Made me think of jacket wear on this Sierra.

Got the $800 offer, down from $1500. No, I'm not going there at at money. I have one Sierra Sportswear jacket that I often rave about, but it looks much better than this jacket. Mine is also horsehide. I've commented on how rich the leather is on mine, I could not on this one. This does have the adjustable side belts, mine has the gathers, which I really like.

I have a Rich Sher Horsehide half-belt with the sheep lining, so I don't need this and probably too small with that lining.

This leather does not appeal to me at all. It looks cheap. Does not have the same quality look as my jacket pictured below. Makes me think Sierra was a label.

My Sierra has been sprayed, has blackened zippers. Maybe that is the difference between the two?

The Rick Sher looks nicer than both Sierra.

That's interesting; if I'd only seen the back, I would've said Sears without hesitation; it's a very characteristic feature of their jackets, with the prominent yoke, the action back and studded kidney panel. As far as the early catalogues show, though, Sears never sold a Wild One style MC jacket, not even Allstate or youth models.

Has anyone ever came across a vintage Peter's jacket (1930's from San Francisco?) in their vintage treasure hunt? What was it like? Was it just some small tailor shop in San Fran? Did it vanish in thin air? Any history you know please share.

A Peters jacket showed up on ebay within the last year. It was discussed here. No one here commented that they owned a Peters. I have never found any information about them.

After a bit of research, judging from the zip pockets configuration, shape of collar and coin pocket, design of attached belt, epaulettes and back, together with the stitching on the lining (with different sizes of quilting squares) and the position of the collar studs, my best guess for a brand is Windward by Montgomery Ward (this jacket similar to the one Regius sold Lebowski a few yers ago here on TFL https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/fs-50s-windward-“two-star”-horsehide-jacket.91814/; another Windward like that, but without stars on the epaulettes, can be found at page 138 of the Lightning Archives Leather Jacket book, second edition). Never seen one with a leather label, though.
It also surprised me that some Sears and Montgomery Ward MC jackets shared the back design.

I think Peter's Tailor Made was still active in the 50s. In the Lightning Archives Leather Jacket book (updated version), page 156, there's a peculiar black café racer style jacket (short in the body, half-zip front with side zip adjusters on the sides, standard chest pockets, back squared yoke) with the Peter's Tailor Made tag on it and what seem to be 50s style zippers. The author dates it to the 50s as well.
I also found this: https://peterstailormade.com/. It looks like somebody in Japan decided to revive the brand. There's also a dealer in NYC.
