Taken through the windshield while stopped at a traffic light yesterday afternoon. The motel is gone, the lot scraped. But the signs remain. Has me wondering if they’ll be incorporated into the new development, whenever that happens.

When a local bowling alley closed in 2015 the building had to be preserved in accordance with "California Office of Historic Preservation" regulations, so it was converted to the new home for BevMo/Aldi stores. The sign out front was apparently not included in those regulations but the new owners went out of their way to assure residents that the sign would be preserved as well, including keeping us notified when it was taken down and sent off for refurbishment. They did change the colors and made one other modification, but otherwise did a nice job of it:

The diamond shapes and letters were outlined with neon on the original sign, but I don't know if they included that on the refurbished version.

I love these pics! I spent Christmas of 1973 in Sheridan, but I didn't get a good tour of the town.

My wife is watching a re-run of "Dateline" set in Colusa, California. I'm not really paying attention, but did notice this sign. "Off Sale" indicates a package liquor license (not by the drink).

Prior to "restoration" -- not sure why they changed the duck.

Pretty sure I've posted this one in all it's glowing lit up glory before, but I stopped by here for lunch today so here it is for you to enjoy in it's day time state. Pell City Steakhouse on hwy 231 in Pell City, Alabama. It seems almost a shame NOT to have had a steak, but the fried catfish is definitely worth stopping for, too.

I like the way you think. I'm normally a "steak" guy myself, but if I see catfish or shark on the menu beef just might get relegated to second or third choice.
