My first job as a “package boy” when I was in junior school.

These chain stores along with the smaller local ones have vanished.
Today it’s WallyMart and HEB stores.

This was okay in the daytime.

Towards the evening it took on a creepy look.

I swear those eyes stared me.

My sister’s play dolls with eyes that open & close

Ranks as the number one for creepiness.

In the late 60s.
I visited San Francisco on a weekend pass from my military base
near Merced, Calif.
I recall helping to turn that streetcar around on Powell St.
I don't remember if the Owl Drug Co. was there at the time.

• The roundhouse thingy the Street Car turns around on

Not too many people paid attention, though -- Westinghouse had a robot that could smoke a cigarette.

If I glanced at this pic quickly, I would have dated it as being much more recent than '39. It must have really looked futuristic back then.
