I suppose it is a sign of my advancing years that I actually remember seeing things like this a few times. I'm glad for the memory, but things like this remind me that I have more spins of the coil behind than ahead.

The sad thing is that my first thought upon seeing this awesome sign was "my God, those prices are low." Yup, I only noticed the scattily clad woman second - sigh.

All that said, what a great sign.

Rare 1930's porcelain one sided neon can sign " That Good Joliet Citizens Old Lager Beer". This sign was especially made for Joliet Citizens Brewing Company.

This reminds me of a Maxwell House billboard I remember seeing in Chicago when I was a child. It wasn't quite as elaborate as this one, but the giant cup of coffee had steam rising from it! Pretty impressive for a 5 or 6 year old from a town of 1100 people.

Walked by one of my favorite luncheonettes in the city this morning (egg creams and lemonades are off the charts and the burgers are good old-school, but the fries - inexplicably and heartbreakingly - are done in a convention oven which is crushing) and snapped this:

We have a Maxwell House factory here in Jacksonville, which also has a vintage neon sign, and it still works; a tipped coffee pot with an animated drop, which falls into a cup..."Good to the last drop".

I'll have to get some pictures of it, the next time I'm in downtown Jacksonville.
