Looks like an Electra, which I believe shared the same frame as the Cadillac DeVille - so you weren't as far off as it seems. The car was ridiculously big.

Check list of all the good things:

• Coffee pot pouring coffee (hopefully the lights of the stream show flow - seen it done elsewhere, very cool)

I took my driver's license test in it, and I can tell ya, it was like driving a Boeing 747...I almost couldn't parallel park it.

I took mine in the marginally smaller (but not by much and not compared to any car today) '72 LeSabre and, as you noted, it was a bear to parallel park. That said, because of that, I can parallel park anything.

I have, as I've aged, developed odd and somewhat undesirable sleep patterns.

Yup. We called them "Deuce-and-a-Quarters." I knew, in my younger days, a young lady who drove one but could never quite get a handle on it's dimensions. We knew she had arrived at the house when we heard the trash cans in the driveway scatter.

...Yup. We called them "Deuce-and-a-Quarters." I knew, in my younger days, a young lady who drove one but could never quite get a handle on it's dimensions. We knew she had arrived at the house when we heard the trash cans in the driveway scatter.....

I remember the "deuce and quarter" nickname - Buick got lucky with that as it really had a vibe to it that probably helped the marketing of the car.

My grandmother bought my grand-uncle's old LeSabre as, what would be, her last car. It was the late '60s and her late '50s Chevy (think it was an Impala, I was very young) was dying and an intra-family trade helped her financially. That said, that car was too big for an elderly woman not in great health.

She never had a accident (thankfully), but watching her parallel park that car on the street out front of her apartment was a hold-your-breath experience. I remember going to the supermarket with her and she managed to avoid the shopping carts when parking through a combination of patience and old-driving instincts buried under health-diminished skills.
