Ella Allen baby knits

Ella Allen knitting books are fairly sought after in Australia and I finally managed to get book 2. From the early 30's.

Sorry for the links. I still can't get the actual pics to show up on this page.
Let me know if you want a pattern scanned.

This is packed away so I don't have the year of the article, but it might be 1937 or so, as I'm working on some graphic scans from that era right now and I apparently scanned this in too.

A Vintage Bump

So, I didn't see a thread on this already, but if there is, I apologize.

I recently found out that I am expecting (!!!) and am quite distraught at the thought of giving up my vintage wardrobe for "maternity" clothes. I've already put my girdles away for the next 9 months, which does justice neither to the clothing nor my ever-thickening frame.

Has anyone had experience with this? And, if so, how did you manage?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I know women endured pregnancy during the 30's and 40's, but i guess it's a little less intuitive for me at the moment...

Congratulations!!!

I'm sure no matter what you wear you will look radiant!

During my pregnancy, I kept my vintage hairstyles and makeup, which on there own, still kept me feeling like myself.
As for clothing I bought a couple basic must haves like a black skirt, jeans, and camisoles. And added my already usual vintage accessories, tops that stretch, cardigans, coats paired with my favorite shoes. Farther along I got a couple of vintage inspired flats to help with the growing feet.
Overall as most of the ladies will tell you pick pieces that reflect your already fabulous self!!

Best Wishes on your new blessing!
