Vintage Hercules “Windward”

When I first saw the seller’s pics I thought it was a Windward with a different label. Not so, upon further examination. Same basic pattern but a horse of a different color. I have a Windward with the single slash chest zipper pocket. It’s a heavier piece. This seems like an earlier model. Obvious differences are old school wool lining, underarm gussets, and different hardware.

Yes, different...my Windward has a crown zipper, shoulder gussets, sewn under-arm holes, and different shaped (more rounded) pocket cording.
A very unique jacket, congratulations!

Your Hercules Windward looks very similar to this Alden. It was a size 46.

This Windward has some of the finest Horsehide. All of the Windward labeled jackets have nice leather.

This JC Penney is another variation. This is the only black variation of this theme I have seen.

I believe I have seen another variation but don't recall the label.

Those old wool linings are pretty much the scratchiest material you would ever decide to put on your body. Even through a shirt.
