From the Montgomery Ward Catalog #57 of 1895.

Montgomery Ward was still selling the regulation G.A.R. hat 30 yrs after the end of the war, around the time veteran reunions were beginning to take place. Judging from reunion pictures & film of the time hats such as The Signal, The Brigadier & The Metropolitan were very popular.
