With snow now on the ground, the time has come to mothball the Plodge for another year. Had it on the road exactly nine months in 2017, for 1516 miles. This was the most trouble-free year in the five years I've owned it, with the only major repair being the replacement of bearings and a set of rear-axle seals. One grease job and one oil change occured over the summer, and I replaced the jiggle-cap on the rear axle vent, which had stuck closed, causing the seal failure.
Also needed one new front tire and an alignment after an unfortunate encounter with a pothole in the spring.

Total mileage on the car now stands at 102,989, with 11,807 miles since the engine rebuild.

The water fountain might be a good selling point, especially if it delivers the water cold and fresh. But as a selling feature would it only appeal to those States & countries of warmer climes? One of the most popular features of pre-war MG's was an inbuilt wheel jacking system that could lift the car in any combination, as in, one wheel only, or one axle only, or one axle plus one wheel, or all four wheels. You simply put a handle into the jacking device, set the dial to whatever you want to raise, and crank until the car is lifted.

In the movie, From Russia With Love, what is the green car that Bond is driving?

James Bond's Bentley 3½ Litre
Ian Fleming's character James Bond drives a 1930 Blower Bentley in three of the 007 Novels, Casino Royale, Live and Let Die and Moonraker.[1] Similarly, Bond's very first vehicle in the film series is also a Bentley.

It is shown very briefly during Bond's first scene in From Russia with Love, as Bond uses its car phone to respond to a pager call from headquarters. Following this, it is mentioned only once again (very briefly) in Goldfinger. While the Bentleys of the novels are shown to be Bond's personal possessions, the film version of Goldfinger strongly implies that the Bentley was issued to Bond by Q-Branch. Arriving at Q-Branch, Bond asks where his Bentley is, only to have Q dismissively state "Oh, it's had it's day I'm afraid." Despite having reservations, Bond is issued with the Aston Martin DB5 instead. On "M's orders".

The Bentley 4½ Litre was a British sports car built by Bentley Motors.[1] Replacing the Bentley 3 Litre, it is famous for epitomizing prewar British motor racing. A total of 720 4½ Litre were produced between 1927 and 1931, including 55 models with a supercharged engine known as the Blower Bentley. Ian Fleming's character James Bond drives a 1930 Blower Bentley.

That's what I thought that The "Blower" looked like. The car in the movie looks like the Bentley Derby, but as you can't see the front of the car, it's hard to say.
So, 2jakes, are you a classic car fan, a Bond fan, a movie buff or is it just the result of a mis-spent youth?

Sounds as if movie product sponsorship decided this one - that's just a guess. I read that product sponsorship is required to make the current-day Bond films profitable (don't know if that's true), but even way back in the early '60s, I'll bet Aston Martin paid to become Bond's car over the novels' Bentley.

There is a lot of product/brand statement in the Fleming novels. More to do with the fact that a sophisticated person knows the very best.

Personally, I'm disappointed that Felix Leiters' Studillac didn't make it to the screen in 'Diamonds are Forever'o_O

I doubt they ever heard of a Studillac and even when the book was first published few people knew what one was. Perhaps they thought it was made up for the book but it wasn't.

The Studillac was the brain child of Bill Frick a garage proprietor and hot rodder from Long Island. His inspiration was to combine the new 1953 Studebaker coupe with a Cadillac V8. Since the Caddy engine had nearly twice the HP of the Studebaker, and the Studebaker weighed 1500 pounds less than a Cadillac this made a bomb of hydrogen proportions. In terms of speed no standard production car of the time could touch it.

It was a sensational car but short lived, being made obsolete by the new Studebaker Golden Hawk in 1956 which came with a Packard V8 that was even bigger than the Cadillac.

Bill Frick went on to head up the Cunningham sports car plant in Florida. Another sensation but short lived effort, Cunningham had a lot of racing success with their Chrysler hemi powered beasts including finishing in the money at LeMans.
