** SOLD ** The purge of size 7-3/8 and rarely worn hats from my collection continues. This is a size 7-3/8 late 1940s or early 1950s black Homburg, made by Adam Hats. This hat was owned by Sen. Guy M. Gillette, who was the U.S. Senator from Idaho from Iowa from 1936-45 and 1949-55 (http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=G000205) – and his name is embossed on the sweatband. The hat is in excellent condition and was cleaned and reblocked by Paris Hatters in San Antonio (it has not been worn since then). It has an approximate 2-3/4” ribbon bound brim (as curled) and the crown is about 5” as creased. The sweatband is in beautiful condition along with the size tag and bow, but the liner, while in good condition, shows some foxing (see photos). Not only is it a beautiful hat, but you are also buying a piece of history – another one I am have a hard time parting with. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact me thru TFL.
