Vintage '50s BORSALINO ALESSANDRIA Fedora Hat size 4.5?!

Picked this up at an estate sale. It's a very cool fedora. A BORSALINO Allessandria - made of mohair (?) with a course linen ribbon. The weird things is the size: it's a "4 1/2" according to the inside tag, but it feels more like a 6 1/8-ish. . It was originally purchase at "SPALLOTTA Roma" and stamped on the inside paper tag under the sweatband: 34508 U2133. I love decoding the mystery to a vintage fedora. Any insight here? I'd guess it's a long hair fur felt. Regarding sizing, a Punti 4-1/2 is equivalent to a US size 7.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to either question. If you post more pictures of the hat, including logos, the experts might be able to help you date it.
