Vintage 1940s Goathide Leather Aviator Style Jacket

This one just came in.

Stunning condition for a jacket that is probably 70 years old. Has a late 40s Talon zipper as shown by dinnerman in his zipper breakdown.

The sale pictures showed it to be like new condition, yet no one else even bid on it. Odd given it had a reasonable opening bid

The sale pictures showed the grain and color pretty well. I thought horsehide. No leather tag, no store tag, no size tag, no makers tag. Does have a union label in the left pocket.

In hand I believe it is Goat. What say you all?

I love vintage Goatskin, so much character. The way it wears on you definitely feels like Goatskin to me, the way the creases from storage set on old goatskin look like that often.

Very nice. I would have guessed 1950's to look at with old hardwear being used. The hide texture looks like goat in the photos but that's a very unscientific way to gauge leather.

I don't know if a pilot would have worn a a jacket in this style. looks like I said civilian jacket with a touch of Aviation.

wore the jacket quite a bit this weekend. sure acts like goat hide. I'll get it out and picture it with some of my other goats.

Sure looks like goat from here. The number of panels at the back suggests goat to me too
