I was passing through Sacramento on Amtrak train and had a short layover. Walked over to Village Hat Shop in Old Sacramento to revisit. 3 PM - midweek. Nicely improved over the last time I stopped in. Lots of both good to excellent quality hats, Bailey’s to Bozo to Borsalino’s all in limited storefront space in nicely restored tourist section of Sacramento (we called it Skid Row area back in the 60’s and were told “Never go there”).

Good use of “The Wall” to display hats, only very small critic is due to limited space no labels/signs, you have to guess at what’s what unless you point and ask (silent shopper) but alas, no remedy.

Staff was polite, friendly, helpful and seemed hat knowledgeable. Let me try anything I asked for. Searched for size.

Tried several hats, no had to have it finds.

Observed the client?®le‚Ķ.mostly tourists trying on funny gag hats‚Ķ.must be hard to try to maintain both sides of the hat market when that‚Äôs who‚Äôs most likely to wonder in.

Wish I had a hat store
Keep it up Fred

Fred -

I really enjoyed reading your post. [Reads like a romantic period piece from the 1940s - getting off the train and wandering over to the downtown hat shop. Trains and Old Sac are what the history of the area is truly all about. Sounds like a great afternoon.] Anyway back to hats: great critquie of the store, very much appreciated. I am glad you could see how we endeavor to be a really good hat shop, but also need to do what's necessary to survive. I'll make sure the gang there sees your comments.

Thanks,

- Fred
