Vertically Challenged Newbie

I've posted this several times before, I have to admit, but I love this picture, and it's apropos. (I originally posted before I knew how to resize pics, sorry.) My Granddad was a jockey. He was 5' 5", and never weighed more than 100 pounds in his life. Here he is fishing around 1932. In a white shirt and bow tie, no less. I think he looks pretty cool in a very prodigious lid:

You need to get mike Moore to make you one like it, he made my TVA fedora modeled on a photo of my granddad from 1936.

From a ladies point of view, I'm less than 5' 3" and I own a TON of hats. Yep, it sure helps so those 6 footer guys don't step on me and squash my hat.

And if you need visual clues, I strongly suggest you check out the thread with pics of hat wearing men and women. Many many people of different height, weight, geography, culture and taste. It's a great thread and might help you to visualize what will look best on your head.

You've all given me alot to consider. I am definitely going to make the leap. I've never been sized and never tried on a hat (except my grandfather's when I was 10 so I won't count that). I like the site "deciding what style of hat to wear". That was extremely helpful. Now I just have to do the research. I am worried what people will say. I have a group of friends where we rag on each other constantly so I'm sure I'll get from them, but I like the idea of just saying "screw it" and wear what I want.

This site is awesome. So glad I found it. Once I figure out what I want and get it, I will be posting pics.
