Speed triple is no more,aches and pains too hard to ignore any longer upright riding position, heated grips and seats won me over ::)

Lovely 400/4, great memories of mine, er…45 years ago!
I've had this one rebuilt from ground up,I would be happy to move it into the living room as a piece of art, it's a jewel. Nowadays they're slow,don't brake very well,handle etc,,but they look fantastic, can't go anywhere without being asked what it is,and if it's new.

I love the Honda, but even more I love that you've stayed with Triumph after moving the triple on.

How do you find the Tiger?
I love it,I was a bit nervous if I'm honest. I love the power of the speed triple, it's addictive. But the Tiger, although nowhere near as powerful, pulls great from low down, and is super comfortable. It makes me smile when riding it,and that's more important than straight line speed. Let's be honest, anything over 100 bhp can't be used too often without a real risk of losing your licence.

You have chosen wisely! You’re going to love that Tiger… I had a similar transition last year. I bought a Thruxton TFC which I found to be the most beautiful thing in two wheels, but just killed my back and wrists after an hour. Moved that on and grabbed a Daytona 765 Moto 2. Also all carbon fiber, beautiful and FAST. Could ride that one for about 2 hours before the pain set in. Moved it on and got a 2019 Tiger 800 and fell in love. Heated grips, seats, adjustable windshield, and all the farkles I could ask for. I could ride it all day everyday and beg for more! I put 15k miles on it in about a year and a half. This August, I took a solo trip and did over 3k miles in 8 days through 7 states with no comfort issues or drama to speak of. When I got home, I ended up selling her and downsizing to only one bike(Victory). I already regret that decision and now am torn between a 900 or a 1200 for the new Tiger I plan to get. Tigers are great. Congrats!!

I contemplated the 1200,but having previously struggled with the weight and especially the height of a GS,I went for the 900 gt pro,I can almost flatfoot it even on the high seat setting. Miss the torque in any gear of the speed triple, but not the riding position. In an ideal world, I would have them both,and the climate to enjoy them,,unfortunately the Scottish weather limits my use,it's dry day outings only,ironic as I used to frown on "fair weather bikers" :)

So did I. I used to commute right through the year on my Honda, until I was knocked off and got a bit broken.

Now my Bonneville is entirely used for fun. I really enjoy how different riding is when you're doing it for joy, instead of because you've got to get to work.
100% agree, I was a post office telegram boy,out every day regardless of the conditions. As soon as the family came along,a car was a necessity, but i always kept a bike as a fun vehicle, I enjoy it more than ever nowadays. Pic from early 70s

My 800 was an XRT “roadie” as well. I find the off road oriented models to be a bit tall for me, and I don’t find myself off road more than about 20% of the time. My next tiger will be a roadie also. The 900 GT Pro would do everything I need power wise. I prefer the aesthetics of the 900 too. The major draw towards the 1200 would be the shaft drive because I find chain maintenance a bit difficult and tedious on longer trips, as it’s rough on my fragile back to get up on a center stand when I’m loaded down with gear.

The 900 is the easiest bike I've ever owned to get on the centre stand, I hated getting rid of the BmW ,,but it was miles too tall.This gt pro is so comfortable, can't wait to get the 1st 600mile done and I can then enjoy it to the full.
