Vanson Zipper Question

Hey loungers, I have a new to me Vanson model B, I traded for and have a problem already. The jacket has absolutely no wear but the zipper went south on me today. I only have tried it on and went to wear it today to go for a ride and my zipper pulled apart, seems the box pin was missing, tried to find it but no luck. Question is, can I find a pin somewhere and fix it myself or will I need to send it to Vanson for a replacement zipper. It has the # 10 zipper with the Vanson logo on it. Perfect riding and jacket weather and no jacket again, HELP!

I would send it back to Vanson. Fixing a zipper yourself never works out well.

Yes, since you are in the States, it should not be that difficult. The problem for Model B is that it is slightly longer than the usual cafe racers, it is common to have broken zippers if you do ride. The other thing is that the Vanson zipper box is made with plastic, not exactly the most durable combo with a heavy duty zipper I guess.

Im suprised vanson doesnt put a snap at the bottom of the zipper to keep that spot from being stressed. i need mine replaced too but i think im going to have someone local do it. vanson isnt cheap for repairs

If you are going to replace the zip, make sure you get a heavy duty one, if your jackets are Model B, maybe a two-way zipper just like the one that they use with the Insurrection premium (Japanese) Model B?

See, that's the thing. If a local guy is going to replace the entire zipper....he better be good so it doesn't look like a replacement, bunched up in areas or uneven. For a replacement I would definitely send it to Vanson. If he could fix the zipper that's on it now OK.
