needed a leather jacket for my motorcycle. I live in Texas so I was thinking going lighter weight than competition. saw the mohawk is light and was debating between that and the model a in Firenze. seems the main difference are pocket placement and hardware color. I have no experience with Vanson Firenze. any thoughts which would suit me best?

The A with removable lining is likely the best of both worlds for you. Yes, the leather is thick but the jacket is shockingly comfortable. That pattern has been refined to likely the closest version of perfection you can get if you intend to use it primarily for riding. Ditch the lining in the summer and it may not be appreciably hotter than the mohawk.

I've got two Model A's; a roughly 50 year old white label in three shades of brown and a new Model A in black. Both are comp weight so I can't speak to the weight issue but I can definitely say that despite being a very heavy jacket the old white label disappears once I put it on. Very comfortable, easy to move in and it can be worn casually and dressed up for the office (I'm not sure others see it as I do but it seems fine in an office to me). The newer Model A suffers from not having been broken in yet so it doesn't exactly disappear when I wear it... but it is all black and easier to make look right in an office.

Of the two both feel like you're wearing armor. When I think of a lighter hide I think of a jacket that drapes nicely and the cut of the A makes for a substantial and purpose built jacket that was never intended to drape per se'. I'm not sure how well that would translate to the same cut in a lighter hide.

Be that as it may, I've ridden as much as most guys (from the top of the world to the bottom and most of the way around) and have had a couple of get offs in that time including snapping my left foot free of the leg summer before last and had to ride home like that for 450 miles. I don't ride in leather and some of the textile jackets vent really well. They sure don't feel the same though.

Like I said in the other post- Perforated CW. If you like the Mohawk call Vanson and see if they can build one with perforated CW. Or see if they can mod a Breeze.

I have a Firenze vest and have had a couple of Firenze jackets- much prefer CW. Both feel just as hot in the summer. Perforated CW. Say it with me…perforated CW. And again. Perforated CW.

This is definitely the move.
