VANSON Model E / New Jacket, New member

Hi over here,

I’m Yannick new member from FRANCE, surburb of Paris.

I’ve read precious information here, before buying my New Jacket.

It’s from 1985, bought in Paris in «Les Halles » famous area for fashion.
The previous owner want a nice jacket for his 20 year old. Good choice .

35 years after, too big for him ( 6’1 , 75kg) he sold it to me ( 6’2 , 92 kg).

It is a 48 and fits me well.

I wonder about The small sleeves zip. What brand is it ? Talon ?

Older Vanson are incredible. Their new stuff is as well. One of the best for the price range. You’ll find that stuff over the last few years though has been spotty. The tannery they were using burned down a couple years ago. They just found a new tannery that could handle all their needs and it closed due to Covid. I’m sure once they have this all sorted out they will be back to consistently making amazing things for the price.

These older ones are thick and tough as hell. Made to last a lifetime. But once they are broken in as this one is they become buttery soft and beautiful. I imagine you’ll be in love with this jacket. I’m no Vanson expert though. Tony @ton312 has owned a ton of model Es from all sorts of different eras and in some different leathers. I tagged him here and I’m sure he can weigh in with any thoughts.

lastly, welcome and good to have you here! I think you will find this is the most knowledgeable and most importantly friendly and open minded Jacket forum. We don’t judge and we don’t condescend on people as others do. Hope you enjoy your stay brother.

Just like mine, the best jacket in my collection (which is only around 20 jackets, modest next to some of the members here). Congrats. Those older Vansons are the nuts, now you need an older Enfield and a Model B, there's no point trying to fight it!

Looks awesome. It makes me miss my old E. And other folks are right, run like the wind if you only want one jacket. We obviously prefer you stay, but you can’t say you weren’t warned lol.
