Just received my custom modified model B. No windflap, double angled chest pockets, buco collar, no back center seam. It’s in Thurstons black Olympia steer hide. It’s a beautiful veg tanned hide but still very thick and heavy.
Absolutely gorgeous!

Hey all, heard about Vanson like 20 years ago in high school but could never afford one, I discovered Thurston bros a few months ago and debating on getting a Vanson and finally got one as a fit jacket. It’s a Vanson Oxford Dark maple bainbridge in 42 slim. This jacket is awesome. I’m considering getting another in custom redwood or abyss blue. Very nice jackets!

That’s a beautiful jacket! I really like the fit on the Oxford, and that leather looks amazing!

I decided to post here instead of the other long-running Vanson thread since things appear more active currently. I'll eventually take better pictures, but as I've yet to find another member who ordered this color, here's your first tatse:

This makes my 10th Vanson, first custom order right from the shop, and the most comfortable jacket in my collection by a long shot. An armored Model A (AR3) in Olive Roma, with added leather lining, satin sleeve lining, cotton flannel body/pocket lining, and brass underarm grommets. This one definitely has some chameleon personality depending on the light. I had a vision, and they executed it flawlessly.

Anyone ever have issues with the zippers on the pockets? How sturdy are they? They look very tiny and easy to break. This is my first vanson so I’m curious what others experiences have been

Are we talking interior lining pockets? They're lighter gauge, but I personally wouldn't be concerned with those, and if you mean exterior pocket zips: bomb proof.

I've never had one fail, and the only "wear" you could critique is a well worn main zip on my Comet and Sportrider; that amounts to just some wear of the zipper backing where the "insert pin" and "box" are sewn into the leather. Expected wear for a decade plus of heavy use, and only something I need to show a little more care when zipping. An easy repair if I ever felt it was necessary.

I mean the zippered pockets, on the jacket I have they are difficult to open and close. And would hate for it to get broken

I follow you there, sure. Vanson uses different gauge zippers depending on the location and use. Difficulty opening/closing is usually just a sign of a zipper that hasn't been broken-in yet. (Just like leather, many zippers need to break-in too.) If it's a major concern, light application of zipper lube works a treat.
