i always liked US Navy garment due to the fact that it is functional and Looks cool

during the time i gathered some Pictures i want to share - maybe some of you have some pics to add







interesting with this Picture is the short blue jacket with the clasps for closure with a clearly visible USN stencil on the chest




the next 2 must be corea-war period coz the Mission-marks on the planes are stars but no japanese "Rising Sun" or german swastika

I too, like the Navy outerwear. I have a deck jacket, an extreme cold weather jacket, and, of course, a whole bunch of peacoats. All cool looking and functional.

I had one of these, an N1 is it?. I originally paid £10 for it at a military fair, but it was full of holes at all the crease points. I tried to sell it eventually and make a few £££ but had no takers at £25, but did not loose out as I eventually sold it on for another £10. I was told that all the markings on the jacket indicated it had come from a crewman from the USS Carrier Lexington lost during the Battle of the coral Sea.

N1 is the WW2 Version in Khaki or blue which are hard to come bye in decent sizes

Yes mine was the N1 with an alpaca lining and collar. Put me off buying a B10 due to itchiness .

i know - my repops are a bit softer but when i wear the original one for motorbike-ridin' the collar scratches my Skin off each time

I own a repro Buzz Rickson N1 deck jacket that I love! I also own a Pike Brothers Navy Blue zip deck jacket, which is great! And, I own an original A2 Deck jacket (impermeable jacket). It's a terrific jacket, as well.

Interesting, Ian as my permeable jacket is styled an A-2, while my impermeable is labeled an A-1. The A-1 is also labeled as "Extreme Cold Weather" and has a removable liner, which is no longer with the jacket.

The A-2 is dated 1974, I believe, as the date is hard to read, and the A-1 is dated 1962. Both appear to have a wool lining, which is quite warm.

My mistake. I didn't look before I posted. I was going off of memory (which was faulty).

My "A-2" is labeled: JACKET, COLD WEATHER, PERMEABLE. It was manufactured by So-Sew Styles Inc. in 1985.

got a new "family member"

N1 in size 44 stenciled front and back






traded in some german WW2 stuff - the guy who gave it to my again (as with my other blue N1) stated the jacket was produced by the same company which also manufactures the Buzz Rickson / Toys- and Real McCoy stuff.

Material is not as heavy as of my Pike Brothers but heavier as of my vintage khaki N1

see comparison of colour with some vintage USN BIBs - NOS - which I have in my collection since a couple of years



almost a 100% match - except the fonts of the stencils on the back are a bit more rounded

it's all there - the cords on the bottom, no inner pocket, liner looks realistic to me too

can someone judge wether the jacket is at least "near" the famous brands or still far away

also found some deck helmets which I got a few years back at my "quartermasters" ...

interesting shades of colour - from left to right unissued to heavily faded
