UNUSUAL Spectator Shoes, GOODBYE!

Time to move away from wool and memorialize leather, before it leaves my closet and goes to eBay.

These cap-toe spectator shoes are from the late 1930s. Made of calfskin by "Crosby Square Shoes", a high-end U.S. company. The shoes' vamps are ventilated.

Three unusual details:

-- They're brown and dark tan. It's quite difficult to find spectators with dark tan in them.

-- As for the brown, it has a beautifully burnished, very shiny patina (which the photos don't begin to capture, alas). Spectator shoes with a brown burnished patina are extremely unusual ... you almost never find them outside of Great Britain.

-- Nice Deco zigzag stitching on the cap-toe, too.

The size is 8 1/2 D. Condition is extremely good.

Marc.

I have stolen the images of all the shoes you sold for my archives. Many thanks ...

Hmmm . . . With little feet like mine, perhaps another image to keep to send to Mr Magnoli in New Zealand. He did an amazing job with the Leland cap toes . . .
