Some of them are just so RUDE! For example, I am sitting here doing my own thing and a moth decided to fly around my desk lamp. Post-its are great for a quick slap and stick. :D

Im not too afraid of bugs, so I just catch it up in a cup and shake it loose outside. Many a spider have been spared that way :)

Within my confines, the rule is that living beings with an exoskeleton and 6 legs or more cease to be living on sight. Especially when they have wings, and a predilection for our bodily fluids...

I like spiders, except the biting ones. Everything else is a pest and gets killed. Dollar Tree is a good place to get flypaper. 6 rolls for $1.00. It's from Germany, so you know it's good.
Moths disinegrate when you clap your hands around them. Kewwwwwl. Outside, I like potato bugs. Are they harmless, good, or bad, does anyone know?

I am SUCH a weirdo when it comes to bugs.

First of all, I've always had this absolutely ridiculous fear of houseflies! I have no idea why. When one lands on me, I freak out and I feel really dirty, like I need a shower. I think it has more to do with flies in my HOUSE than flies in general...in India, fly central, I had no problem with them, except when they flew around my face when I was trying to sleep.

However, other bugs...no big deal.

As a kid at summer camp, I was always the one who would pick up the big, scary spider with my fingers and set it outside. I recently picked up a desert scorpion with tweezers and let it free (though it kept stinging the tweezers, the ungrateful twit!). I had to get rid of some spiders in my room a while back, since I got a poisonous bite that took forever to heal...but for small spider control, I usually just catch daddy longlegs and stick them in the areas of concern.

I don't mind moths unless they're flying at my face or something. To keep them out of my clothes, I hang cedar sachets in my closet.

There's currently a vinegaroon (desert whipscorpion) running around my room right now -- they're harmless, and cute! A lot of people keep them as pets.

My favorite bug is the praying mantis. I got really excited in India when I found one of those giant Asian ones in my hotel room. They have the most beautiful wings!

Pity the poor moth - doomed because he's used to navigating by bright lights at night. I once heard a scientist describe the sick, dizzying disorientation they must suffer when their natural instincts betray them and they're drawn to an electric light - thank goodness they don't have higher reasoning, or I think I'd go around the world saving moths from that fate.

I loathe parasites, some pests like cockroaches, and am currently at war with the ants who had the absolute temerity to get into the lid of my Cointreau bottle (apparently the shriek of rage I let fly when I found them could be heard half way to Sydney).

Other than that, I'm mellow. I tend to avoid lethal funnel webs, red backs and the dangerous breeds, but other than that am fine with spiders. I like to have the large huntsmen in my room as they keep other insects in check. I'll usually volunteer to take an insect out of the house.

I do have affection for the Christmas Beetles that show up around December, and am always fascianted by stick insects and praying mantises.

Doh!

I'll let a spider live -- unless it wants to share my desk or shower. Crickets, however, must go if for no other reason than sleep.

That is cute! Lots of cool bugs outside. Dragonflies, Praying mantises, Lightning bugs, Bumblebees, Ladybirds, Japanese beetles, Worms. NOT junebugs; when my hair is very long they target me and get all up in there. Unpleasant. At my roommate's in Atlanta there were fleas so bad that his cat died from the loss of blood. :( :( My two dogs and cat didn't have them nearly as bad, for some reason. Actually, the flea infestation in Atlanta made headlines that year.
