Shangas, if Australians are so bad at period drama can you tell me why Baz Luhrmann is shooting the upcoming version of 'The Great Gatsby' in Sydney?

Hardly proof for quality. :p Just by the screenshots and trailers I couldn't tell if it is set in the 60s,70s or 2000s ;)

Anyway not all drama has to be about 'really major events'.
That is very true. There will be always drama where people life, love and die. I don't find "major events" very interesting but more the history of the common folks. 200 years are enough.

I disagree Shangas.

Have you seen Newsfront or For the term of his natural life or The Hungry Miles or My Brilliant Career or Harp in the South or Rabbit Proof Fence or Ten Canoes or Lousy Little Sixpence? There are many more I could list, but there's plenty of well made Australian period film & tv shows out there.

'The getting of wisdom' was on tv the other day
You could try
Carsons Law
Oscar and Lucinda
Careful he might hear you
Come in spinner
My Brother Jack (loved that)
Picnic at Hanging Rock
The Year my voice broke
Power without Glory
Bordertown
Just off the top of my head
There's also Squizzy, the movie, if you want to get a head start on this years Underbelly
