Underarm Deodorant?

The deodorant/anti-perspirant I use is scent free and is especially good at killing scents, because it is designed for hunting. I just wait until hunting season is over, then stock up on sale-priced deodorants. Works great for me, especially since it destroys scents; my mother is allergic to most scents, both natural and artificial (the only flowers she can have inside the house are cactus flowers), so when I visit her this deodorant causes no problems.

For those interested in the Alum style of deodorant make sure you get potassium alum as any other is known to sting more. When I started using it I found that many of the "crystals" were in fact not potassium alum. Also a hint....don't get it in the traditional deodorant container, just get the big old crystal and dry it after use in a soap dish. The crystal lasts much longer and is actually less messy in the long run. You can pick up a nice one for under five bucks..

I use Tom's of Maine 24hr. While it does not last all 24hr for me, for the bulk of the day say 8 to 12 hrs, it helps me. Granted I only use deodorant and not anti-persperant, and I don't do a lot of heavy physical work. I have tried a lot of other natural deodorants over the years, even other Tom's types, and would get rashes. This type has not given me a rash, nor has another type I have used, Every Man Jack. I have to be really careful when it comes to deodorants and pretty much any other type of toiletry item due to skin sensitivity. This is why I go for the "natural" brands or, if I can, teach myself to make my own stuff.

Recently tried Taylor of Bond St. Sandalwood roll on and thought the quality and longevity of the roll on was superb but the fragrance was lacking. Like most Taylor of Bond products if they just turned up the volume a bit on the fragrance it would make a huge difference to me. Same with their soaps.

Piper Wai (the one in a jar, I do NOT like the sticks). I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to try something more natural but has had reactions to others (like Tom's)

I use those deodorant stones....those crystal stones. Been using it for years. Cheap and it works great on me and one stone lasts over a year. No scent and it kills the B/O effectively.

I've never heard of such a thing, but a quick internet search has me interested. I've loved the piper wai jars, but I might have to give those a try.

I have been using them for 20+years. The stone somehow kills the bacteria that creates the odour. I am not a heavy sweat guy and I can get 48 hours out of one application.

I'm very much an anti-perspirant man.

FWIW, though, it's not the sweat that smells bad, I'm told - it's the fact it gets trapped in by clothes and goes stale. If we all walked around au naturel, it wouldn't smell bad. Mind you, that's not a trade-off I'm prepared to make for giving up clothes.... ;)
