I do plan to eviscerate a 7823C G-1 :D. I'm willing to replace all knits, lining and fur from collar. I just haven't found the perfect victim yet to perpetrate my crime.

BTW, jacket-cide nº 2; lately I'm enjoing the handwarmers mod in one of my G-1s :D Probably that poor 7823C will receive the very same treatment.

I wouldn't eviscerate a vintage jacket lightly. My leather alterations to date have all been repros.
You must be a "short" length. Anyways, I'm glad you're only messing with repros or modern jackets that are a dime a dozen. For a moment there I had visions of massive, irreversible alterations being done to pieces of history...

Indeed Doctor D, my 'short length' has led to much messing with repros and cheap modern nylon making my seamstress the richer & me much the poorer. We had both better hope that the N2-A when I land one fits perfectly or history could be altered....a calamitous thought ;)

I just ordered a m-51 from USWings. I didn't know that this business was run by a Vietnam vet, it's amazing. I thought it was a bigger company. Only problem ordering overseas is the shipping costs from Ohio. Otherwise it's a cool shop

First and foremost gentlemen, I apologize for the wait, it has been a hectic few days to say the least.
I also apologize for the "selfie" style pics, they are not the best.

all that aside, first we have an overall view of the jacket after alteration.

next we have a closer view of the sleeve

here are a couple detail views of the collar hardware. I must say, with the recent cold snap in the Midwest this collar has been a godsent.

now a couple things I don't like. first up the collar, when down, seems to have a bit of a line in the mouton on the side with buttons. I suspect that this will fade over time as the side with the strap softens a bit

and for the last negative. I don't know what you call this loop, but when hanging the coat on a hook I noticed that it is not sewn through the leather, just the nylon liner. I am wondering how well this will hold up over time. I hang my coats with hangers whenever I can, but occasionally I do use coat hooks.

Sleeves look good; most folks never use those leather hanger tabs (even when sewn thru the leather). They use a wood hanger or just drape the jacket over a chair or on the sofa (or the floor? LOL).
If yours is only sewn thru the nylon/rayon lining, it's only a matter of time before it rips right thru the lining.
Good looking jacket.

I've just received a Kids G1 from USWings. It had to be a Christmas present for my son, but took too long to arrive due to an error with the zip code. Their customer service was fine, I must admit, but not the rest.

They call that jacket "Wings of Gold" model.
I am furious. It is not leather. I've checked again their website and they state "leather jacket". On their previous version of the on-line shop it was even described as "real leather".
Well... is just plain plastic.
I was considering buying a jacket from them for me, but that is the end. I don't like to be cheated, no second chances.

I recently purchased their Signature Series USCG Issue G-1. Made by Schott, it is a very nice jacket. The customer service was just fine. I would buy from them again, and give them a good recommendation.

I'm talking about a children's jacket, not an adult one, but, anyway, is shown as leather both in the new and older websites. Is my only experience with them and the last one.
