These are two suits I couldn't resist picking up. They are rather traditional except for the single buttoning. As we have seen from some vintage catalogs, this was a style made back in the day, but not very common. But the fabric and cut are both very traditional. They are beautiful suits and would look great on a slim guy who fits them.
The size is about 36. the measurements are 40 inch arm pit to arm pit. The sleeve is 17 inches arm pit to cuff and twenty five inches shoulder seem to cuff. The shoulders are 17 and a half seam to seam across the top and the back is 32 inches top of collar to bottom. The sleeves have about an inch and a half to let down.
Waist is 29 inches with about two and a half to let out. The inseam is 30 inches with two and a half to let down, but there is no cuff. So if you want a cuff you will probably be maxed out at 29 inches. The zipper is 9 inches and the rise at the crotch is about twelve, so they are not really high waisted, but kind of medium. They fit well. The cuff is 18 inches wide.
THe cut on the pants is very traditional with nice pleats and nice wide knee with a tapered cuff. The jacket is nipped at the waist a bit and has nice high arms. The jacket is fully lined as well. The pants have watch pocket and nice cotton lining with suspender buttons.
I don't know anything about the tailor, but I imagine they are a good hong kong tailor. The label says "tailored by the sun 506 Lockhart road Hong Kong." The label looks kind of eighties graphically.
I would guess they were done in the eighties.
If you like a nice traditional fit in a well tailored suit, you will love the fit. The fabric is great. The glenn plaid fabric is made in england and the blue fabric is unlabeled but as good quality. They both are nice heavier weight, but really soft to the hand. I have two vintage suits that are similar and the fabric feels the same more or less, and very similar weight. They are both very soft and smooth, but have a little stiffness to them to make them feel like a real suit. You can see the construction of the jacket on the inside and while I don't know much about facing and such, they seem to be constructed well without a bunch of bunched up glued stuff.
The glenn plaid has two pairs of pants with the suit, while the blue one only has one.
the condition is close to perfect. I can not find any problems and they seem almost unworn.
You will really be impressed with what was surely an expensive tailorede suit.
I am asking sixty a piece for each. Or I will sell both for a hundred. SHipping will be about tne bucks and if you buy both I will ship for the same price for both.
Let me know if you have any questions.
