I'd like to add my thanks to to CSMILLER for the DVD source. For you "Combat" fans, Vic Morrow had a brother who was good friends with my parents. I had several autographed photos of Sgt. Saunders when I was a kid. Unfortunately my younger brother tore them up when he got angry at me

I have NEVER seen these before, these are really neat.
I love all the old uniforms, color etc.
Thanks for the post.

Please PING me if anyone finds any others like this.

1 more question,
Does anyone remember the STEVEN SPEILBERG "amazing stories" that had a WW2 BOMBER Crew in which the ball gunner was stuck, and the landing gear didnt work, so one of the guys goes into a tranz and drawing Cartoon wheels and of course the cartoon wheels saved the gunner.
Then, after they got the guy out, the soldier in the tranz fell out, and the wheels disappeared.

Does anyone else know where I can watch that?
I have looked for that for years.

Thanks!

Yes! I have that on VHS! It's called "The Mission". 3 November 1985
A courageous young World War II gunner and aspiring cartoonist,
trapped in the belly of a B-17 aircraft, has only his imagination as
a force that might be able to save him. Kevin Costner is the pilot,
Casey Siemaszko is the ball turrent gunner. Kiefer Sutherland is
'Static', the radioman.
It is on 'Amazing Stories' Book One. I'll bet it's on eBay.

I absolutely loved Twelve O'Clock High when I was a kid-it was on, as a re-reun of course, on Sunday afternoons. So, after Church and Sunday lunch, I always watched.

Here is another little gem. I wonder how many remember this one! This is the original TZ from which came Vic Morrow's role in 'Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983)".

Ah, yes, Rod Serling. Great series, probably one of the best on TV ever. Mr. Serling is a hometown hero around here. He was raised in Binghamton. Several episodes were based in part on locations or towns near Binghamton. He was also in the military (Airborne) in WW2. He earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. And did anyone notice that Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock) was in the episode?

Craig, how uncanny can this get!!??? I'M FROM BINGHAMTON, NEW YORK!! 56 Leroy Street, to be exact! 1954-1959. My Dad retired from Prudential and moved us to South Florida in '59. My Mother used to talk about Rod Serling, having been to school with him as a kid. You have got to love the 'Lounge' for shrinking this world and bringing people together! (Commence 'Twilight Zone' theme music now).

As a lifelong TZ fan - I've read BOTH Rod Serling biographies! - and an old Harpur College grad (1977), I'm right there with ya, fellas!

Hi Doc,

It was called SUNY-Binghamton in my day, but us liberal arts types still tended to think of it as Harpur College. I always chose to get the Harpur (vs. SUNY) sweatshirts and stuff, anyway.

That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Twilight Zone! lol I grew up in Horseheads (don't laugh it really exists -- http://www.horseheads.org/ ) and moved here almost 25 years ago so I could be gainfully employed. At one time, I lived on Beethoven Street (for about 9 months or so) so I lived a stones throw from where you were. You're right, the Lounge really can shrink the world.

Craig

OK - so who out there use to live (or still lives) in Horseheads???? :D

You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Twilight Zone! lol

I actually grew up in Horseheads (don't laugh it really exists -- http://www.horseheads.org/ ) and moved here almost 25 years ago so I could be gainfully employed. Speaking of the Twilight Zone .....

OK, I see that I posted 2 posts almost identical. Well, I thought the first one got lost in the TZ (we were having networking problems here) so, thinking that it wasn't sent, added to my post and posted that one. Guess they both got posted....... Wonder what Mr. Serling would have to say about this.... ???? lol

Craig (who is now wondering what reality he is presently in....)

When I first started working here it was called SUNY Binghamton (and many in town still call it SUNY). Then it (very) briefly switched to something like "The University Center at Binghamton" before someone realized that it took too long to say. So they came up with Binghamton University. So if I tell out of town people that I work at BU they think of Boston University ....

But that's ok!....Craig, did you get the "Which Way E.J." in my name???
You may already know this; years ago when immigrants got off the ships in NYC they had been told to say the only English they knew that would get them a job, "Which Way E.J.". Relatives already in Binghamton, Endicott and Johnson City gave them the term so as to get directions to the E.J. rep for trips to the Southern Tier. E.J. of course meant Endicott-Johnson Shoes, and for many immigrants new to America, E.J. was a ticket to the good life - employment, income, security, education and of course, more English language! Lestershir Village is now Johnson City.
