Trench Coat - the 'Ultimate' Thread!

Thanks for the info baggers, it would be interesting to see if it has all the features you describe, like the full back pleat(I've searched for more pictures of this model, but they all show just the front), I'll be sure to check it out when it comes in.

A Khaki one is next on my list, I've got to stock up on clothes before I head off to College in August. :p

I don't think I could pay full retail for one of their trenches either, especially since the one I just got retailed for almost $1000 from what I've gathered(I paid a fraction of that).

My trench is a 36 short, and my suit size is a large 34 / small 36(Hey! A 35!). Sizing will most likely vary from manufacturer and even lot to lot. Best thing to do is try it on. Failing that, make sure you can fall back on a return / exchange policy.

Lost Worlds Trench Coat

A few days ago, on a different thread, we were talking about the Lost Worlds Trench Coat. I had ordered one a few weeks ago and it arrived a few days ago.

http://lostworldsinc.com/Grenfell_Cloth_Trench_Coat.htm

Here is my take on it.

- The Grenfell cloth is gorgeous and looks like it would wear very well.
The coat is lighter than expected, but at 4 lbs still substantial.

- The color is a Light Taupe and the lining a traditional cotton plaid. Most of the buttons are real horn, but there are one or two small, but rather cheap looking plastic ones, which could be replaced. My coat has only one hook around the neck; the picture on their site shows two.

-The belt is about one and a half feet too short. I wonder if they shipped me the wrong one...

- The stichting looks good and over all it is very well made.

Overall it is similar to the Burberry cut, more military than civilian dress.
.
Unfortunately it doesn't fit me and they don't make a bigger size! (48R)

ARGH! So, I will have to send it back and will have to take another look at what's out there.

Pictures to follow.

That is a lot of money for a rain coat! Even if that is New Zealand dollars.

Birthday present for myself. ;-) I'm hitting one of those milestones next week

I've wanted a really nice trench for years.

But since this one doesn't fit, the search continues...

Nice Coats

Wow, they've got some great looking leather up for sale. The B-3 made me drool.

Clothes like that are almost enough to make me get a "real job."

Yep, it was a lot of cash, but I was counting on wearing it for a good 20 years...

But consider this.

The Brooks Brothers trench is about the same price and although it's very well made, I felt the style was a little... flat.

The Burberry is $1300! I knocked it a few threads ago, but had another look at it recently. Apparently I got it mixed up with a different coat (or was temporarily insane) and it turns out that it's actually a very nice piece. But it's $1300. Did I mention that it's $1300 dollars?

I was lucky that I got my Burberry for less than 200, brand new.
>So, you wear about a 50? I'll keep on the lookout.

Thanks for the offer; a heads up would be most appreciated.

I wear a 48R suit jacket. I figure I need something like a 52 or 54 to fit it over a sport jacket, since a trench is supposed to be worn a little on the big size.

cheers,
