This will sound a little crazy, but I've had some small success in using unscented hair conditioner on synthetic fur ruffs like yours, Wet the syn fur with warm (not hot) water; the water flow will help "straighten" the fur quite a bit. Apply a considerable amount of pre-warmed hair conditioner carefully working it with fingers into the complete fur ruff. Let sit for 1/2 hour. Rinse (fully) with warm water (allowing rinse water to straighten the fibers) and allow to drip-dry (110%) in the sun.

The treated syn fur ruff will never be confused with a much superior Natural fur ruff, but it will look and feel better than before; at least mine did. Optional: User can carefully trim the little bit of faux fur that is wildly excessive in length. Easy does it.

This (hair conditioner) trick also works on syn (faux) mouton collars on some G-1 jackets. The result is more pronounced (more noticeable) than it is on the treated faux fur ruff above.
