Too warm for an A-2 jacket

Hello everyone,

New to this amazing forum, I'm posting a pic of myself wearing a replica A-2 as an introductory post. I'm currently into replica A-2 jackets and workboots, and really happy to join this forum.

(Please understand the mosaic cover)

The photo was taken a few weeks ago, and too bad the weather here in South Korea has already got too warm and humid for this beautiful garment. As springs and autumns are disappearing due to climate change, I'm afraid there will be less opportunity to enjoy the A-2 jackets unless you fly in summer. ;)

The russet brown A-2 in the pic is so called 'Band of Brothers' version made by Real McCoy's back in 2000 or 2001. Its lining is customized with camouflage patterned parachute canopy-like material (smooth stuff). Shell is relatively thin horsehide, but not flimsy.

Cheers,

Welcome to the forum.
Very good looking A-2 there! What are the boots?
Regards.............coffee

Thanks. :) The boots are Red Wing Iron Ranger in Amber colour. I like their WW2 service boot-ish look.

Hello and welcome to the forum. That's a nice looking A2 you have. Real McCoys do make some excellent repros! The Iron Rangers are also very good. I have a pair of the same model/colour and the leather is really nice. Honestly, with that sharp looking outfit there's no reason to hide yourself!!:p

I too use that line often. Or I declare its price under-valued. Import tax at the porch is sometimes way higher than across the border. ;)

Great outfit! The weather here has been unusually warm this spring. We haven't had A2 weather for a while!

Any suggestion? :)

I've also got an A-2 in Seal Brown, which is a classic colour that goes well with any sort of trousers. Still, russet brown looks more 'stylish' to me.

??????????? I wouldn't tell that to the USAAF. That's exactly what a lot of WWII pilots and aircrews wore during the war. I see no problem at all with the combination. I've worn it many times during re enactments I did during my 20 year Air Force Career.

Cool

Nice jacket! I wear a similar outfit all the time (same boots, too!). Did your jacket come with a 506th PIR "Para Dice" patch?

Very nice combo indeed, I dig the boots also.

I tell you, being in Alaska has its perks, its never too warm for a coat most days. That could be viewed as bad, but I'm one for accentuating the postive...
Be honest, how many of you all thought of the song when I said that?

Thanks - nope, just the camouflage lining (and w/ Rough Wear AC-23380 'twin label'). I actually got the jacket secondhand so there was no choice in the first place, though the patch version would have been a bit too 'flashy' for me to wear everyday.

Edit : let me post some pics of what the jacket looks like in another thread..
