A knitted polyester cap and badge, protesting about the lack of an International Felt Hat Day ;) :D

Right you are, Dane!
And worse, yet, to quote (I think) Steven Wright, "the Miss Universe Contest is FIXED...! Someone from Earth always wins."

They're trying to keep it local, perhaps?

Rusty: Thanks for the ammo. If I shall get all nine Danish felt wearers behind a demand to the prime minister, I need some substantial arguments. The fact, we are 70 years behind is a good start ;)

David: Beautiful hat! I love the stitching and the vents ... super sharp!

I took out my old Borsalino, my first real fedora, purchased new in 1986, re-blocked and creased the crown from the tapered original, and trimmed the brim from 3 inches to 2 1/2 inches. I've worn this hat through rain and snow storms and cross country road trips. I've rolled it, put it in a suitcase and taken it to Europe, and saw it survive a severe smashing by my friend's young children who thought it would be a nice little joke to show Mr. g.durand that he isn't so special because he wears a hat. This should make for an updated winter topper.

Long live the felt.

Well the only place I'm going today is to band rehearsal and I'm dressed way down; t-shirt, camo cargo shorts an sandals (yeah JP total hippie attire :p :D ) So I'm just gonna throw on my old Knox westlite, it's just the ticket! :D

Long Live Felt Hat Day!! :D

Ole, H3 - thanks for the comments on the VS.

This hat is great for warmer days, the lightweight felt, vents and removal liner.

H3 - nice job on that red fedora. Looks great on you!

Thank you! It was a real joy to make. And yeah, I've totally got an outfit picked out for it ;-)

I'm looking forward to the day my new Akubra Campdraft (Silverbelly) looks this good! :eusa_clap :thumb::thumb: Pristine hats have their place, but there's nothing like the character of a well-used, well-worn, beloved hat.

Back to the main topic, I wore the aforementioned Campdraft when I took our dog for his evening stroll yesterday. I would have worn it even if it wasn't National Felt Hat Day, but it still counts. ;)

Hi

I was fortunate enough to spend National Hat Day at Buckaroo Hatters in Covington Tennessee. The temperature was 60 degrees F when I got their late Saturday Night and didn't get above about 81 all day. I had a great time in spite of the fact that I didn't buy a hat. I was sure tempted though.

See I was at a hat shop for National Hat Day. I DID pick up the Buffalo leather vest I'm wearing in the picture though.
