Is this a premier 30s half belt?

Although I dislike drawing attention to myself, I admit I like the look of this relatively shiny leather. Does Bainbridge or Vancouver smell like chrome tanned or vegetable tanned leather out of the box?

It’s a decidedly leather smell but not like the wonderful smelling vegetable tanned leathers I’ve had.
