Thought: Do we need to add a kitchen in here?

Should we ask MK and the Bartenders to add a "Member's Recipe Box" room?

Ladies and Gents,

You don't need a kitchen for my "recipe for life".

4 cups of Love
2 cups of Loyalty
3 cups of Forgiveness
1 cup of Friendship
5 spoons of Hope
2 spoons of Tenderness
4 quarts of Faith
1 barrel of Laughter

Take Love and Loyalty, mix it thoroughly with Faith.
Blend it with Tenderness, Kindness & Understanding.
Sprinkle abundantly with Laughter.
Bake it with Sunshine.
Serve daily with Generous helpings.

A little heavy on the treacle, maybe?

Hmm, I can't vote it seems! Well, I'm still chiming in.

Just one more post, and you can!

I think you have to have 15 before you can vote in polls.

BTW: I say a kitchen would be a good idea. Perhaps one day someone could compile all of the recipes like RedPop's forum did.

Vintage Recipes

Folks,

Although Magneto likes to do the cooking in our household...(I tried making a casserole once and I don't think she liked my cooking :( ) I do like seeing other people's recipes. I think the Irma Rombauer "Joy of Cooking" has been done over and over and over again, so I'm hoping that there will be a place here for recipes someday. And maybe, we could have a Fedora Lounge Potluck. Wouldn't that be just swell?

FG.

I think the suggestion was to contribute...and get actual volume behind the idea....since 'Golden Era' does cover it....but there have been a very low level of actual recipes in the recipe threads, and ideas in threads about cooking.

Participate first and then the room ends up making -more- sense then 'needing a room in order to post recipes'

So post away! Gather momentum by doing this......

Okay!

This is not vintage, but REALLY easy! and very good! I love to cook in a Crock Pot, just put the ingredients in and walk away!

Mexican Roast

3-pound roast, any kind
2 Tbsp. taco seasoning
1 jar (16 ounces) salsa

Place meat in greased 3 1/2- to 5-quart slow cooker. Sprinkle taco seasoning over meat. Pour salsa over top. Cover and cook on low heat 10-12 hours or on high heat 5-6 hours. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

Serve with Spanish rice and your favorite steamed vegetables. Leftovers can be shredded to use in tacos, burritos or enchiladas

Home and Garden

I like the idea of the Home and Garden thread. Some people put "domestic stuff" in the Golden Era, some in the Display Case. Now if we could get Super Forums and Sub Forums that might help. Does any bulletin board operate that way? That's the problem with heirarchical classification systems, you have to put things in one primary class than can equally well belong in several.
I like the H&G idea, because it could include setting up of kitchens (including cooking, applliances, etc.), decorating, and other ideas for really living a "vintage" (I hate that term, have I mentioned that before?) lifestyle.
(I don't HATE it, I just wish there was another term that more fully describes what we're into.)

I also like the idea of The Kitchen - Home and Garden section.
I'm not allowed to vote yet...but I would vote yes for it.
I think it would be a great spot to share ideas...especially if someone is looking for a good recipe for something.

That sounds quite tasty!

Here's a classic recipe:

Meatloaf

1lb Ground Beef (better the quality the better the loaf)
1/2 Medium sized Onion (I usually use yellow/Vidalia)
1 8oz. Can of Tomato Sauce
1 cup Oatmeal
1 Large Egg
Salt/Pepper to taste

In order mix Beef, Onion, Oats*, Egg, Tomato Sauce, Salt and Pepper.
Press into a loaf pan and bake at 350¬? for an hour.

*Tip: Add the oats a little at a time while mixing and they'll blend in better.
