Remakes can be pretty good from time to time. The Man Who Knew Too Much was a remake of a 1934 (?) film also by Mr. Hitchcock. In this case, though, it's simply because he knew he could do much better than he had before when he wasn't very experienced. Right now the trend seems to be remaking things simply for the sake of it. I don't see the point in that, really.
