Hi all, I was hunting for vintage general purpose leather shoes. I found these but they dont seem available. I really like the style but don't know what its called.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

OK that helps, but numerous searched failed to locate shoes like the ones pictured, so anyone who can help would be appreciated.

It looks like that shoe was proposed/announced in 2008 but then not made?

The style is called "Cap-toe", which is what you asked initially. It wasn't clear that you were looking specifically for a brand of shoe that was possibly made or not.

From the way the 2008 press release reads, Patina Shoes was to be a new store started by "Self Edge". Google search doesn't show that there is now a Patina Shoe store.

But your idea is still a good one, I will contact Self Edge and ask what became of it.

Ive got a pair of the same boots from At The Front, and i highly recommend them. Not as dark as those originally posted, although they could be darkened. A shoe repair shop could probably take off the rubber soles and put on another layer of leather.

And these are the previously mentioned Iron Rangers. I can't vouch for their quality as i don't own them, but i'm sure somebody else could.

OK I calleed Self Edge and emailed the link. The rep is kina new but doesnt think they went forward with the Patina products.

They will be getting back to me.


The Red Wing would be an acceptable fall back, so thank you F.L. for the help!

Not sure if it's Red Wing, but does look like the Iron Ranger. I own three pair of Red Wings and it is a well made shoe. Keep in mind though that Red Wing shoes are oversized.

I believe the 78PTC can be made without the holes in the toecap which would make it similar to the boot in your photo.
