There are plenty like it, but this RMC J-100 is all mine!

A bit too hot for leather but I finally bit the bullet and bought a grail jacket. Over the last two years, I've purchased several jackets in my search for a cafe racer (pre-owned Aero CR & BR and a new Schott 530 among others) but none were exactly what I was looking for. The Vanson Comet was close but not perfect.

It's all come together nicely with the RMC Buco J-100 in teacore shinki. I'm awe stricken. I can now understand the love for Shinki HH. Sticker shock is strong with this one but the honeymoon phase quickly replaces it. Standard & Strange tracked down a 46 for me from Japan and I had it in two weeks! I figured I'd be waiting until fall, so big thanks to Neil and the team over there.

It's longer than my other jackets (which I like). I never felt comfortable in the Aero CR which hit right at the belt line. It looked OK but didn't feel right to me. I considered the RMC for a long while and while I spent a few bucks buying and selling, it helped me understand what I liked and didn't like in terms of fit and features.

In the end, I'm happy as a pig in $hit! This forum was indispensable and so full of knowledge. The only nit I have to pick is the slightly boxy shoulders which isn't uncommon in Japanese jackets however, after just a couple of days, they are settling down and molding to me. I'm sure it will be fine once broken in.

I'm getting plenty of eye rolling from my wife and kids for wearing it in the house while it's 75°F outside but there is an ear to ear smile on me nonetheless :).

Absolutely stunning jacket! That is probably my second favorite cafe racer design around right now. As you may know, I am quite a Shinki fan so I am glad to see you enjoying it as well. Even with the sticker shock, I am sure you must feel amazing finally having that grail jacket. Regardless of price, nothing beats having the jacket you always wanted. I know this all too well.

Now, where are the fit pics?!

I read so much about Shinki, much of it from your site and posts here. Great resource!

Thanks! There are a lot of great leathers out there, but it certainly is my personal favorite. I'm glad you enjoyed reading my website. That really means a lot :)

Can't argue with that. The J-100s when originally made were meant to fit a little longer so that's fine. I prefer a cafe racer to sit an inch or two past my belt line.

Congrats, great looking leather and i like the placement of the chest pockets not too high like some others.

Congratulations, beautiful jacket. Interesting how you found a 46.

I was surprised as well. I thought a 44 would work but the retailer recommended I size up. Glad I did. Chances were slim that a 46 would be sitting around so S & S indicates that I could order it for their fall delivery. Next day he tells me there is one available if I want it. It took about a week and a half to get to my door.

@Seb Lucas I was surprised to learn that. I feel the same way, this one is about 2” below the belt and feels great that way. I have an ELMC Californian that’s a long size. It hits below the belt as well, which I much prefer.
