Thedi Idas on bigger dudes?

We are about the same height and weight. I had a Thedi Phoenix, which is the renamed cafe racer Thurston offers. The jacket was an XL and fit ok in the chest and shoulders. Thedi cuts the sleeves very trim. That might be somewhat of a problem for you. I didn’t find them comfortable.

Actual cafe racer and board racer jackets are designed to be in a neutral position when the arms are stretched in front of the body in a riding position. That way you can ride all afternoon without any pressure points. When arms are at your side they pull on the shoulders, chest and armpit because your body is no longer in the proper riding position. My Bates is weightless while riding. Standing at attention it is awful. Even when it is unzipped after the ride. The tugging and pressure is very uncomfortable. The jacket allways comes off immediately after I dismount.
If you get a fashion model cafe or board racer jacket they can be great for walking around and be a literal pain on a motorcycle.
The Thedi Idas Barry is considering should be comfortable. It doesn't have skin tight body and sleeves the motorcycle styles have.

Apologies, I think you may be correct.

I’m not thin skinned but almost every time someone has immediately replied to feedback about a jacket idea with a sarcastic quip about, “Well I guess I should try [cheap/fashion brand or some kind of weird fit]” it has turned out being a Zangy type situation.

Apologies again.

At least Zangy was on the up and up though, he really wanted a horrible ill fitting jacket and it hurt him deeply when anyone pointed out how bad his idea really was. I’m starting to think that Mr. McCockiner might be pulling our chains.

True. What I meant with Zangy was how he kept arguing that we wanted to be “fashionable” by wearing skinny jeans (out of fashion for years now) and some German designer none of us had ever heard of.

That’s right! He set up a skinny straw man argument that really didn’t apply to anyone here.

You’re absolutely right! They really don’t like it when you call them mister…

I remember being so confused by this because my dad has a doctorate but worked in an organization where basically everyone was an academic (usually math, econ, sometimes medicine) so their organizational culture didn't use "Dr" at all, then I went to other settings where people are actively offended.

:D That 127920 is one sharp jacket oh boy! I heard Thedi's leathers aren't good for rainy environments though. That's the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger because I need protection. Unless he sells a leather that isn't veg-tanned? His stuff is complete masterclass. I love it but...

I ordered a costume Thedi Markos from Thurston august 2024, just received it at the end of january.
Carrie definitely nailed the sizing of the jacket, and she was more than accommodating in adding a shearling collar to the jacket.
If you have concerns regarding sizing, definitely go through thurston. They will send you a stock jacket to try on and the sizing will be based on your feed back (pictures, body measurement and etc.)
