I think this is a two general motivation Collection or Style.
Collection should be make sance on what you primer interesting for me was a aviation so flight Jackets. For twenty years was possible to buy some for reasonable price was became as great investment in this days. Don't buy anymore to expensive and original WW2 flight jackets markt ist gone.
Style stupid to collect but change with time so we looking for something different.
Me l keep at the moment original leather nylon and slowly change my every day from leather to cloth jacket. Leather is to heavy to hot in Sommer and to cold in winter. Cloth fill more comfortable in most time but stil love my black RMNZ L2b horsehide probably most comfortable leather jacket I owned and I owned a lot.

Hello, new poster here.

I think this a good place to hop onboard from being a lurker:)

My "collecting" or rather a jacket hobby is recent in being called a hobby, but a very long interest. Why it's a hobby now? Because I've run out of hi-fi, whiskies and watches "collecting" tree. And I wanted to label this as a hobby so I can get unreasonable amount of jackets:D Sneaky.

I get what I like and I don't sell. And I like "value for money", "underappreciated" etc. for everything. I like variation and quality, but going onto the diminishing returns slope is just not how I roll. I appreciate hi-end stuff, but hi-end is often restrictive and too peculiar.

I've gotten about 40 jacket in under 6 months on top of my previous jackets. So I think I might have around 50-60 proper jackets now, almost all of them in semiregular rotation. Seasonal of course, but nonetheless.

Biggest problem for me in increasing any collection size from here is two-fold.

First is I fill the niches in style/occasion, once they are taken care of, there is no need for more.

Second is storage. Watches are excellent as are whiskies in storage sense. Hifi can be spread around the house so kinda acceptable. Jackets? Quite a pain in comparison.

TFL effect?

Sure. You know more, you make more informed decisions and have wider horizon and enjoy your stuff more are a result. But sorry about your wallet:D
