Dan; hatophile; Lefty; Jimmy; and Mulceber, your kind words are sincerely appreciated.

I will add hat statistics when I get home tonight.

Knox Twenty - Custom Edge

Picked up this odd fuzzy green Knox 20 the other day. I wasn't sure when I would have occasion to wear it. Then I remembered that this Thursday is St. Patty's day.

The girlfriend is modelling the hat. She has a larger hat size then me so it really doesn't fit her too well. Not sure if I should be worried about that or not. Does it make me less of a man...?

Size doesn't matter, or so I'm told.

light gray knox 20

Look forward to seeing that new Knox, Flute. While we wait, here is a Knox 20 I just received. I now have two 20's and two 40's to compare. These are both very nicely made hats and in many details, quite similar. The 20 felt is softer, the 40, denser and firmer. The 20 wants steam to form, the 40 is very easy to mold dry and holds a sharp crease well. I haven't worked on this hat yet. The liner has some hair product staining and the sweatband is a little dry. Of the four, this is the only one with a horizontal Knox brand stamp on the sweatband.

Knox Fifteen Tom 'n' Jerry

Splendid Twenty, Alan!

Matriculating at the school today, Tom and Jerry.

Medium thickness felt, lighter than my Twenty and Forty, with a fine suede finish.

Crown: 4-1/4", as creased.
Ribbon: 1-7/8".
Brim: 2-1/2", with 1/8" underwelt.
Sweatband: 1-3/4".

Note the 'twist' bow characteristic of many Knox Twenty and Forty hats.

Machine embroidered liner tip design partially blurred by the onion skin cover.

Knox shield perpendicularly oriented to the sweatband.

Super color palette there!... There is something about the downward dip of the ribbon at the bow on Knox hats that grabs me every time... a dramatic element.

Thanks, Alan. I love the very unique and beautiful bows found on the better Knox lids, a 'signature' that makes identifying them at a glance so easy, much in the way Art's bows are readily identifiable. I wonder if this was peculiar to a specific time period or individual ribbon/bow maker at Knox(the former seems more plausible)...
